Pericyte: Prostaglandins and myogenesis
Pathway ID: SIGNOR-PPAMG
Description: Muscle regeneration is strongly dependent on prostaglandin pathways which can affect muscle cell proliferation, differentiation and fusion. Cycloxygenases (COX) use arachidonic acid to synthetize prostaglandins. Among them, COX-1 and COX-2 are the most highly expressed in damaged muscles and COX-2 is the most expressed in inflammatory cells.
