Satellite: Dystrophin glycoprotein complex regulation
Pathway ID: SIGNOR-ScDGC
Description: Satellite cell commitment depends on Myf5, which is transcriptionally activated by Pax7 after Carm1 methylation. Carm1 localization is regulated by p38gamma (MAPK12) which prevents its nuclear translocation by phosphorylating it. In normal satellite cells, this results in a physiological balance between symmetric and asymmetric cell division. In dystrophic cells, the loss of the interaction between p38gamma and beta-1-syntrophin favors Carm1 phosphorylation.
