T-Lymphocyte: IL4 and its transcriptional regulation

Pathway ID: SIGNOR-TLymphIL4

Description: IL-4 is an anti-inflammatory cytokine that is able to binds with high affinity its cognate receptor IL4Ra. Upon binding, JAK/STAT5a is activated, with stimulation of proliferation and activation of FOXP3. Several transcription factors are involved in IL-4 gene transcription, comprising NFAT, IRF4 and GATA3. Transcription factor that binds to the octamer motif (5'-ATTTGCAT-3') and LEF1 are also involved in downregulating IL4 expression.
