Tocilizumab is a humanized anti-IL-6 receptor IgG1 monoclonal antibody used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and other chronic inflammatory diseases [14]. By blocking the IL-6-receptor interaction, Tocilizumab inhibits the IL-6-mediated signal transduction. Although clinical data on the use of Tocilizumab in COVID-19 patients derive from small series, some authors recommend its use in critically ill COVID-19 patients with significantly elevated IL-6 levels. |
