Together, our results indicate that TRIM2 is an ubiquitin ligase that binds to and ubiquitinates NF-L and that TRIM2 deficiency leads to neurodegeneration in mice likely by altering NF-L metabolism with consequent NF-L accumulation in axons and impairment of axonal transport. |
