FAP: Insulin-mediated adipogenesis
Pathway ID: SIGNOR-FapINSView in NDEx
Description: Insulin pro-adipogenic effects are mainly mediated through the PI3K/AKT pathway, which is responsible for the phosphorylation and subsequent nuclear exclusion of anti-adipogenic transcription factors, such as the forkhead proteins FOXO1 and FOXA2. Another target of AKT-mediated modulation is GATA2 that exerts its anti-adipogenic activity through direct inhibition of several adipogenic factors, including PPARγ.
