We show that human Wapl interacts with cohesin throughout the cell cycle via cohesin's Scc1 and SA1/SA2 subunits and that Wapl forms a subcomplex with Pds5A|These results indicate that Wapl is required for the release of cohesin from both interphase chromatin and mitotic chromosomes, perhaps by facilitating opening of the cohesin ring or by modulating direct interactions between cohesin and DNA. |
