Description: Osteocalcin (BGLAP) is a major member of the noncollagenous protein family found associated with the mineralized matrix produced by osteocytes. Several observations suggest that BGLAP inhibits bone formation and it is currently considered as a marker of bone turnover. RUNX2, DLX5 and SP7 mediate Osteocalcin-2 transcriptional regulation.
