FAP: TGF beta
Pathway ID: SIGNOR-FapTGFB
Description: Transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ) and its related factors control the development, growth, and function of diverse cell types. TGFβ transduces its signal via dual serine/threonine kinase receptors and transcription factors called Smads. In particular, the phosphorylation of SMAD3 stimulates its dimerization with SMAD4. SMAD3/SMAD4 complex translocates into the nucleus where it down-regulates the transcription of two crucial transcription factors involved in adipogenesis: peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) and CCAAT enhancer-binding proteins (C/EBPs).
